Nav Night Spring 2008 Finale

This past Thursday was the final Nav Night of the spring 2008 semester. We spent the first half of the evening honoring the graduating seniors. This year we had twelve students graduating. We had one person get up to speak on behalf of each of them. I had the honor of speaking for Aaron Gavila, my old roommate and good friend. We concluded our senior send-off by praying over them.

There were two more parts to our evening, both of which I’m pleased to be able to bring to you here. First we were treated to an end-of-the-year video (below) created by Patrick Gines. I didn’t get the impression that he spent too much time on the video but it looks fantastic. I guess that’s what happens when you’re in the film school.

We ended the evening with a musical. Last year we had “Mary Poppins in Fifteen Minutes.” This Christmas we had “It’s A Wonderful Life in Fifteen Minutes.” This year was “The Sound of the Lion Newsies,” a combination of The Sound of Music, The Lion King and Newsies. Yeah, it was sort of a mess, but very funny. A couple of us recorded the performance and, eventually, we intend to create an edited version that looks nice and polished. For now I’ve posted up the unedited version. EDIT: To my knowledge the edited version was never made, and the service I used to post the unedited version shut down.
